Dear Residents During this bad spell of weather, If the need arises and you have to venture out in your car, while manoeuvring on snow/Ice your movements should be “GENTLE” turn gradually Brake in plenty of time (read the road) If you do get into a slide/skid there will be nothing you can do. If this happens, In an attempt to control the vehicle, the best thing to is change down the gears using the gearbox as a brake. Another thing to do is take your foot OFF the brake and steer the vehicle (this is really hard to do because it goes against everything you have been taught) In the past, I have had to do this and it was very successful. Please stay safe . | ||||
