Vehicle Seized

So what have the team been up to this set?

On Wednesday 08th PCSO Hillman attended St Giles Primary School to deliver an input around Your Digital Footprint. This presentation is to educate young children both KS1 and KS2 about how to stay safe online and to be safe about what kind of things they share or comment on on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or TikTok. It also educates them about what kind of things they share on Apps such as Whatsapp and Snapchat. This input also ensures that they know how to keep themselves safe online when playing games with their friends such as, Roblox and Minecraft. It also educates them a little around The Computer Misuse Act (1990) and the laws around it.

Later on throughout the shift whilst on mobile patrol in the Darley Dale area your Matlock Safer Neighbourhood Team saw a male turn right at the junction of Crowstones Road and Oker Avenue. This is a one-way system that is very well sign posted. As the male turned right officers then noticed that this male was holding a mobile phone in his right hand. Clearly not paying attention to road signs or surroundings he continued to drive in the direction of St Helen's Close.

This led to officers pulling this male over to discuss his manner of driving and the risk he poses to other road users and pedestrians, and they conducting further checks.

Upon completing these checks, it came to light that the male was driving on a provisional license, meaning he held no substantive license or insurance.

This then led to the officers seizing this vehicle and issuing the male with a traffic offence report for a number of different offences.

We would like to remind our road users to remain vigilant on all roads, ensure that you pay attention to road signs and our surroundings and ensure that we keep up-to-date with our policy documents such as road tax, MOT and insurance. Set reminders in your phones, on your calendars or within your diaries if you have one! As responsible road users, it is our responsibility to check that our policies and documents are in date and valid.

Thursday 09th PCSO Annellei Hillman and PCSO Keanu Coupland visited Tansley Primary School to deliver an input about the Role of the Police and what they do. As part of this input the officers attended in a marked Police vehicle for the children to have a look around, sit inside and see what equipment officers carry within a Police car in order to effectively respond to jobs that they attend, whether those incidents are graded as an emergency or not.

This helps us to give the children an insight into what types of equipment officers use, and why.

They also took a bag of uniform for the children to look at, try on if they wanted to, have their photos taken if they wanted to, but also an opportunity to have a little bit of fun with officers to get to know them and to ask any questions they may have had.

It is really important that the young members of the community know that Police are there to help them, to ensure the safety of them and the rest of the community.

Unfortunately due to the poor weather conditions speed checks were cancelled throughout the area this week, but are in the process of being re-arranged pending weather forecasts next week, but will be published once confirmed!

We would like to continue to encourage members of our community to report any concerns in relation to road users to us.
If you know that someone is driving without a license or whilst banned/disqualified, under the influence of alcohol or drugs or without the legal road documentation, please report it via the below channels:

-By phoning 101 if it is a non-emergency.
