Great result yesterday morning concerning our ongoing hunt for one of our most prolific Burglars already wanted on a 14-day prison recall.
Following assistance from a member of the Public York City Centre Neighbourhood Policing team and Response colleagues located the male, arresting him for various outstanding offences. It was then vital to then be able maximise our ability to charge him with as many offences as possible to secure him further prison time.
Officers from both teams then set about a challenging full days work obtaining outstanding evidence, pursuing unreported crimes we found out about, conducting premises searches and pulling it all together with our existing evidence. Then articulating the detail for Investigation Hub colleagues to interview and obtain a charging decision.
It was quite a juggling act and we overcame various hurdles during the day, including attending other unrelated incidents and some additional work in the form of a person wanted for failing to appear at court during one of the premises searches.
The suspect was charged and remanded in custody with; 2 X Business Burglaries, 1 x Theft from a Motor Vehicle, 3 X Shop Theft, a Public Order offence in relation to threats made to retail staff and possession of Cannabis. At York Magistrates this morning the defendant received a additional 10 weeks imprisonment. | ||||
