Hi Resident
If you find this information helpful please “rate” this message at the bottom (very quick and simple).
Criminal damage and graffiti are criminal offences that not only cause concern to the community as a whole but also have cost implications to the owner. These types of offences are anti social and can give an increased perception that an area is unkempt, which can lead to people assuming there are high levels of anti-social behaviour and/or criminal activity. The Broken Windows Theory states that monitoring and maintaining urban environments in a well-ordered condition may prevent further vandalism or a more serious crime.
Advice to the publicCriminal damage is an offence and should always be reported to the police. Not only is graffiti a criminal offence, but very often it causes great harm and offence to communities within Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. If your own property has been targeted, report this to us online ( https://www.hampshire.police.uk/ro/report/asb/asb/report-antisocial-behaviour/) as an incidence of criminal damage. Graffiti seen on land, buildings or structures owned or managed by the council should be reported the relevant local authority ( https://www.hampshire-pcc.gov.uk/get-involved/taking-action/asb/contact-your-local-council), and graffiti on utility company property (e.g. bus shelters, railway bridges) should be reported directly to the company responsible for the upkeep, rather than the council. | ||||
