Today Officer's and PCSO's from your local Neighbourhood Police Team have been out and about conducting speed checks in Skelmersdale.
Our aim has been to highlight the risks from speeding and help educate those who do speed with the dangerous and life-threatening consequences of not sticking to the appropriate speed for the appropriate roads. A total of 621 vehicle's have been speed checked across the 5 areas attended in and around Skelmersdale.
Here are the results from each area:
📍 Mossy Lea Rd - 95 vehicles checked and 1 vehicle was captured doing 40 mph in a 30mph and was reported for summons at the road side. A second vehicle will be receiving a letter through the post regarding speeding advice.
📍Course lane - 145 vehicles were checked, and all vehicles were following the speed limit and abiding traffic regulations.
📍Newgate Rd - 201 vehicles were checked and all vehicles were in order and abiding traffic regulations.
📍Church Rd - 70 vehicle were checked and 14 vehicles were recorded as to be going excess of the speed limit with the highest speed recorded being 38MPH. 🛑 We would like to remind road users that there are 2 primary schools in this area and the risk going at these speeds can be life changing🛑
📍 School Lane - 110 vehicles were checked and 4 vehicles will be reported for their speed and one driver for their speed and using a mobile phone will in control of a vehicle.
Please make sure you're driving safely as majority of the public have done today and your vehicle and yourself are fit for the conditions of the road.
