Weekly Update

Dear Neighbourhood Link Member,

Good Morning, and I hope you are well!

Here is an update on neighbourhood policing in Syston, Thurmaston and surrounding villages.

What have the neighbourhood team been doing?

  • High Visibility/Reassurance Patrols – in our ‘hot spot’ areas
  • On 14/01/25, PCSO 6024 attended the public council meeting in Syston dedicated to the flooding concerns. This meeting allowed local residents and those affected by the floods to be able to liaise with the necessary agencies.
  • On 12/01, PCSO 6024 conducted a beat engagement at the post office in Queniborough and then conducted high visibility foot patrols in the area.
  • The beat team have been conducting burglary patrols around the NL61 beat, which consists of evening foot and marked car patrols throughout the villages in the residential areas. This is due to an overall increase in burglaries during the winter period. For crime prevention advice please visit the Leicestershire police website!
  • This is just a selection of what the neighbourhood team have been doing, we have also been completing crime investigations, partnership working with other agencies and engaging with residents and businesses in the area.

     Our Priorities

The community have stated that ASB is a concern within The Charnwood East area. Patrols have continued regarding areas highlighted as having ABS concerns. Particular attention has been paid to the locations of Checkland Road with reports of doors being knocked and youths running away, Central Park Syston and Donkey park regarding quad bikes. There will be continued patrols of the parks to reduce the ASB caused by quad bikes. There have been reports of e-scooters being ridden on Melton Road and Syston so patrols will take place.Patrols will be modified as appropriate to areas highlighted as a concern through reports submitted

The community has also stated that speeding and parking issues are a concern at various locations throughout the Charnwood East area. This month we have had several operations targeting speeding. Including Melton Road Rearsby, Barkby Road Queniborough, Fosse way Syston. The results of these detailed in Facebook posts on the Charnwood page.Further reports have been passed to us and we are looking at completing further Speed operation in the coming months.

    And finally ……..

There has been a recent increase in residential burglaries within Charnwood East area. High visibility Patrols both on foot and in a marked police vehicle have been mainly conducted in Syston, Thurmaston, Queniborough, East Goscote areas where there have been reports of burglaries. Whilst we have had a reduction in reported burglaries in these areas over the last week the team will continue to conduct patrols and assist with enquiries for the investigation
