In recent months we have been made aware of incidents of suspected hunting in Retford and the surrounding rural areas. Some of these events have been captured on drone and handheld camera footage.

Could we make everyone aware that since the hunting act 2004 came into force banning the hunting of wild mammals with dogs (Section 1 of the Hunting Act) there is additional legislation that landowners and farmers may not be aware of.

Section 3 of the Hunting Act 2004 could make it an offence for landowners to permit land which belongs to them to be entered or used in the commission of an offence such as Hunting Wild Mammals with dogs.

We thought we would bring this to everyone's attention, so people do not find themselves being investigated for offences under the hunting act.
