Beware of Door-to-Door Sales Scams

Protect yourself from door-to-door sales scams with these tips:

1. Check ID and Credentials: Always ask for official identification and verify it. Legitimate salespeople should carry a badge and provide contact details for their company.

2. Avoid High-Pressure Tactics: Scammers often pressure you to act quickly. Take your time and don’t agree to anything on the spot.

3. Verify Companies: Use trusted online sources or call the company directly to confirm their legitimacy. Never rely on the salesperson's word alone.

4. Keep Your Door Secure: Use a door chain or peephole, and avoid letting strangers into your home, even briefly.

5. Ask for Written Proof: Genuine salespeople will provide documentation, such as brochures or contracts, for you to review at your leisure.

6. Trust Your Instincts: If you feel unsure or uneasy, politely decline and close the door. Your safety comes first.

7. Report Suspicious Behavior: If you encounter aggressive or suspicious salespeople, report them to Staffordshire Police by calling 101 or using Staffordshire police online live chat and always dial 999 in an emergency.
