Dear Neighbourhood Link Member, Good afternoon, I hope you are well! Firstly, I know it’s a little bit late but I would like to say ‘Happy New Year’ and I hope 2025 is good to you all. Secondly, I would like to apologise for the delay in providing you with our update on neighbourhood policing in Loughborough Central. So here below are the crime stats for the 71 days since my last update (12/11/2024 - 22/02/2025) Crime Report
What have the neighbourhood team been doing? High Visibility/Reassurance Patrols – in our ‘hot spot’ areas. This includes carrying a tracker around when officers are in the ASB Patrol Car in the evenings.
Our Priorities(Issued 01 January 2025)
To reduce the number of thefts in and around Loughborough town centre Several persons have been arrested for thefts in and around Loughborough town centre, the thefts including theft from stores to theft from motor vehicle. Persons have been charged with offences with a number of persons being remanded to prison It is pleasing to see that at this stage thefts of cycle remain in low numbers, and I am also pleased to state that a number of owners of previously stolen cycles have been re united with the cycle. Following a stop check of a vehicle 3 persons were arrested on suspicion of theft from stores whereby a significant value of alcohol had been stolen, the three persons were charged with handling stolen goods. Following Police enquiries, a stolen cycle has been located out of the county, this has been re united with the owner and Police enquiries will continue with regards to the theft itself. A further person has been arrested for a theft from store, The male was charged and remanded and appeared at court where he was given a community order Police officers have been out in Loughborough town centre providing re assurance Patrols leading up to Christmas, visits have been made to local retail outlets discussing crime prevention and deterring thefts from retail outlets. Reduce Anti social behaviour reported by residents across the local area in varying formats including car cruise meetings, noisy parties Police are working with Charnwood Borough Council whereby a male in the town centre has been acting in an anti social manner, Police and Council are working together in order that a community protection Notice be issued, this is following a Community protection warning that had previously been issued. There are further community protection warning notice to be served to a number of persons who continue to cause anti social behaviour in the town centre. Two youths have been identified as causing anti social behaviour in businesses within the town centre and interventions with the two young persons are ongoing as to appropriate disposals for the young persons Police have worked with trading standards for some time and in October a retail store was closed in the town centre following information about illegal cigarettes/vapes being sold, this clearly has an impact on the community and public safety. Police officers have again been on patrol on the A512 which has experienced what is termed car cruises, there remains a Charnwood Borough Council CCTV camera and whilst this has helped reduce the number of incidents, Police continue to patrol the location at appropriate times Several young persons have been identified as causing anti-social behaviour in Loughborough town centre and these persons have been spoken to and visits are being arranged to discuss matters further with parents
Drug related Anti-social behaviour including that of drug supply and use Police have met with local residents in relation to drug use and supply, patrols in the appropriate areas are taking place Police continue to gather information in relation to drug use and supply in order enforcement can be progressed Police are continuing to work with partners in relation to seeking a closure order for an address where anti-social behaviour occurs, Anti-social behaviour which is believed to be drug related. This is still work in progress and will be updated shortly Police have sought a closure order following reports of anti-social behaviour believed to be drug related and pleased to announce that Magistrates have granted a partial closure order for an address on the Kingfisher estate, Loughborough, this will hopefully result in a marked improvement for the local community Police have continued to complete checks on vulnerable persons and on a more recent check a number of suspected class A drugs were found, The investigation continues Upcoming Neighbourhood Consultations Neighbourhood consultations are a good opportunity to discuss your neighbourhood concerns and meet your local policing team.
