Trigger Fraud Alert #25 (January 2025)

Crypto Currency Investment Fraud

Humberside Police are warning people about Crypto Currency Investment fraud.

Crypto Investment – If it is not your key it is not your money!

Crypto assets tend to be volatile, speculative and their use comes with Risks. Within the UK they are not regulated as strictly as banks or stock market and losses are not covered by the FSCS Financial Services Compensation Scheme. Which means you may struggle to obtain reimbursement if your assets are lost, even to Fraud.

There are thousands of coins currently in existence, and scammers are creating Fake Crypto websites and adverts which explain about Crypto investment opportunities and promote guarantee returns. You may even be contacted by a third-party agent who will give support and advice throughout the investment.

Unfortunately, once the scammers believe you have made all the investments you can into the crypto wallets the fraudsters delete all channels of communications and shut down the FAKE websites and the result is the loss of all your invested money. Please Stop, Think FRAUD – Please do your research before you Invest.

If you have been a victim and lost money, call 101 and report it.
