We’ve noticed a worrying trend among young cyclists riding in the dark without lights, helmets, or reflective clothing. Many are dressed in all-black, making them nearly invisible to other road users. This is a serious safety concern, especially during the darker evenings.

As parents, grandparents, and carers, we can take simple steps to protect our young riders:
 

✅ Lights on bikes – front and rear, bright and functional.
✅ Bright or reflective clothing – make sure they’re easy to spot.
✅ Helmets – a lifesaver in case of a fall.

We all want to keep our children and grandchildren safe, and ensuring they’re visible on the roads is one way we can make a big difference. Let’s work together to win this vital battle for their safety.
