E SCOOTER SEIZED

Good afternoon folks,

Another seizure of an Escooter around Swadlincote.

PCSOs have now been given the power to seize Escooters from our Derbyshire Chief Constable.

They are causing alarm and distress to members of the public and so you are advisable not to ride them around in public else they will be seized and crushed.

The driver of this Escooter had no idea about the law which states this is classed as a motor propelled vehicle and whilst riding it, the driver has to have a driving license and valid insurance.

We know there are some people who disagree and believe these should be legal to use in public- we cannot change this. If you own one or have recently purchased one as a gift the full explanation is via this link- https://orlo.uk/pIMZ7

We do normally get asked why it is ok to use an E Bike the answers to this are via this link. https://orlo.uk/TVb3x

To avoid confusion and the seizure of an  E Scooter- they can only be ridden on private land and not on public land.
