Hello,
Recently we have had concerns raised to us about parking around local primary schools, particularly at drop off and pick up times. Zig Zag markings and double yellow lines are there to keep children safe. They provide safe road crossing areas for children accessing or leaving school, ensuring that there is a substantial clear view at all times.
It is an offence as per Section 36(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1988 to park on zig zag markings in the vicinity of a school and you may be issued a fixed penalty notice if you fail to comply with traffic signs/ road markings. It is also an offence to cause unnecessary obstruction by motor vehicle/ trailer. Please ensure you're vehicle is not causing any obstruction where you have parked.
It is important to remember that a vehicle colliding with a child could be catastrophic. Parking inconsiderately can endanger other road users, especially pedestrians. Please think before you park and ensure you are parked legally and considerately. Please part of the solution not the problem. | ||||
