Chelmsley Team Newsletter

Good Evening Resident

Chelmsley Team Newsletter 30th Jan 2025

Residents have been asking about the incident at Dillington House near the town centre on Tuesday morning.

I can confirm that a 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault offences and has been taken into custody for questioning. The incident continued for several hours and Police had welfare concerns for the male after he barricaded himself in the flat, Force Negotiators came to ensure his safety.

A Prolific shoplifter is back behind bars

Our thanks to all the shop staff who reported the multiple incidents, collated CCTV and gave reports to us. That one phone call, when we were just around the corner, meant the offender was dealt with swiftly and returned to prison.

The Town Centre bus interchange has seen lots of Police presence this week. We have been working with the WMP Safer Travel Team to combat and deter crime on the buses. Over the last couple of months, we have received numerous calls for service when youths have caused criminal damage by either throwing items at, or pushing windows out of, moving buses. This behaviour could endanger many lives and will not be tolerated, CCTV shows these offenders and lines of enquiries are being followed.

Youth workers have been out and about working on our area to engage with any groups of youths hanging around. They aim to divert the attentions of these youngsters onto various activities & groups.

Chelmsley Town Parish Council host this wonderful event, gathering all the agencies and services that can support residents under one roof. Do pop that date on your calendar and come along, have a cuppa and a chat.
