Road Closure in New Romney.

Hello all.

Just a quick message to thank all motorists and pedestrians for your patience and understanding earlier today when we had to close the high street due to the fire at the fish and chip shop, oh and not forgetting our cuppa from Bakery 64, thank you to them for that!

Fortunately there were no casualties and as always the Kent Fire and Rescue crews from New Romney and Lydd did a great job at bringing it all under control to minimise any damage etc whilst myself and colleague James had the relatively easy job of traffic control!

I know that when we close roads it causes a degree of chaos and we always try and keep a lane open so that there can be some element of traffic flow but today due to the nature of the incident and of course the fire engines being there we had no choice but to close both lanes.

It's also a timely reminder that we should all check our smoke alarms at home on a regular basis to ensure that they are working.

Thank you

Steve and James.
