Good evening Resident,
We were conducting foot patrol in Newport this afternoon visiting local businesses and speaking to the public in town. We were able to provide some crime prevention advice to retailers and were provided some useful information to assist our enquiries.
During our patrol, we sadly observed an adult man urinating in full view of the public, in the grounds of St Nicholas' Church. The man was oblivious to the fact that we were walking past and did not appear to understand how his behaviour was likely to cause passers by alarm or distress.
The male was detained and dealt with by way of a penalty notice for disorder, in which he can elect to attend Court, or choose to pay a £90 fine.
Whilst I would like to reassure you that this behaviour is very unusual, particularly during the day time, it is totally unacceptable and is something that we will deal with robustly. If you observe behaviour such as this, please report it to us at our website: www.westmercia.police.uk
Kind regards, Rich.
PC Rich Edward Safer Neighbourhood Officer.
