Domestic Abuse Heanor Gate Inputs

PC Tabbron from the Amber Valley - Youth Engagement Team and PCSO Colledge from the Heanor Safer Neighbourhood Team have been at Heanor Gate Spencer Academy this afternoon, speaking with their Sixth Form students about domestic abuse.

With 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men experiencing domestic abuse in their lifetime in the UK, it is vital that we educate our young people on this topic.

The session encouraged group discussions around Control - The Story Of An Abusive Relationship we discussed,

- Spotting the signs of controlling and coercive behaviour
- Why do victims sometimes make excuses for their partners violent and controlling behaviours
- Victims of domestic abuse (males and females)
- Why victims of domestic abuse don't just leave their relationships
- Domestic abuse statistics
- Clare's Law
- Support Services
