We have recently been made aware of some males saying they are from a water company, attending addresses stating people need to make appointments to have plumbers attend to cut costs down or coming in houses and looking around at meters then stating a plumber will need to attend.

Whilst we are still working with companies to establish how authentic this is, no water company attends your address without an appointment! They have been working on installing external meters in the area so their teams are around, but this does not mean they come in without you making an appointment beforehand. 

United Utilities have specifically said that if anyone has any concerns with staff in their uniform, tell them to wait outside and call the number 0345 6723 723, any UU team will be happy with waiting outside whilst you double check if they're genuine.

Please stay extra vigilant and don't let anyone you don't know in!
