Cultural Quarter - January Beat Priority Update


BEAT PRIORITY UPDATES - JANUARY 2025

 

Below are the updates in regards to the ‘Cultural Quarter’ priorities which you said were negatively effecting our community;

 

YOU SAID;    Vehicle Crime  🚔 🚗 
WE DID;
- High visibility patrols have been conducted in private and NCP car parks in relation to theft from motor vehicle offences. Safety advice has been given to members of public regarding keeping valuables out of sight.
- Multiple vehicle seizures and ‘Stop Check’ for several driving offences and manner of driving.
- One driver has been arrested for failing to stop for officers as their vehicle was linked to drug supply. A warrant was conducted at their address where they were arrested and now serving a 22-week prison sentence.  

 

YOU SAID;    Misuse of Public Space  🐕‍🦺 👮🏼 
WE DID;
- A drugs warrant was conducted at Blenheim Court on 23/01/2025 resulting in 5 persons arrested on suspicion of concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and are all under investigation. An amount of Class A and B drugs were located alongside a quantity of cash, drug paraphernalia and weapons. 
-A meeting with PA Housing has been conducted alongside a JAG referral to discuss ongoing issues at Dover House.
-A visit has been conducted with Rachel’s Kitchen, the homeless food bank that attends Callis Hill three times a week. This was a positive engagement with volunteers and officers will continue to show a presence. 
-Intelligence logs have been submitted regarding drug dealing and drug use on the beat 
-Patrols have been conducted by all of the team throughout shifts including St Georges retail park, Granby Street and the surrounding areas.

 

YOU SAID;    Darker Nights 🚶🏻‍♂️ 🌠 
WE DID;
-    Several beat surgeries have been held in locations where acquisitive crime has historically happened to provide reassurance and give public safety advice.
-    High visibility patrols have been conducted in areas to provide reassurance to members of public around shopping areas and New Walk/St Georges retail park. 
-    Leaflets and information have been distributed in regard to the enforcement's and warrants executed on the beat within the last month to provide safeguarding and contact numbers for those affected by criminality.
