Dear Resident, 

We've recovered weapons and made arrests following swift work by officers in Wednesbury this morning.

Our officers were on patrol in New Street, at around 3.30am where they saw two men acting suspiciously.

The men tried to run off after seeing our officers, but following a foot chase they were detained shortly afterwards.

We recovered a bag containing machetes along with cutting tools which we suspect is linked to the pair.

The men, aged 20 and 33, have been arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and going equipped for theft. The 20-year-old was also detained on suspicion of having cannabis.

They're currently in custody for questioning.
