UPDATE ON THE AREA

Good afternoon to you all and welcome to our new Derbyshire Alert members,

I get great feedback from residents who get regular updates from Derbyshire Alert so encourage your family/friends and neighbours to register by getting in touch with me and I can certainly register them 😀

It's been another busy week gathering intelligence, keeping the vulnerable safe and also attending and engaging with local communities, ( shown in pictures)

Also, one of our key roles is engaging with our local area schools. School patrols is vital keeping our children safe as well as visiting the schools to give school presentations such as the dangers of hanging around derelict buildings, swimming in open waters and dangers around the home.

By the way the Council enforcement officers have been patrolling, issuing penalty tickets to drivers parking wrongly around schools.

Mini Police programme is a Police innovative engagement programme and is aimed at children aged 9-11 ( yearsb5/6) , The programme is designed to give young children the opportunity to learn about their safety, their role within their communities and how the Police work to keep them safe.

The Derbyshire Mini Police programme started with 3 schools in 2021 increasing to 20 schools.

In Swadlincote area there are three schools that take part, and i attended one of them with a colleague during the week, presenting the danger topic to over sixty children. Intense but very rewarding.

W3W is also known as What Three Words, which is an app which is a free app that you can get for your mobile phone.

This app pinpoints your exact location. Used by many emergency services nowadays. If you don't know where you are e.g. lost or had an accident in a rural place, then your W3W app will give you three words within the 3 metre square you are at, therefore the emergency services, or your family/friends, if they have the app, can locate you - great app to have 👍

Finally please make sure parents/guardians/grandparents know exactly where your children are playing, and who they are engaging with at all times as half term holidays creates more Anti-Social Behaviour in our communities if they are left with no supervision.

Thank you for your attention as always 😊
