๐ŸšจBurglary in Redstone, Burghill ๐Ÿšจ

A burglary took place at approximately 4am on Thursday, 13th February, in the Redstone area of Burghill, during which an Audi RS 5 was stolen from the driveway.

It is believed the property was specifically targeted for the vehicle and was vacant at the time of the offence.

A neighbour discovered this morning that the vehicle was missing. Upon checking the property, it was found that the offenders had entered the driveway and used an unknown tool to snap the lock on the rear UPVC door, gaining access to the utility room.

Inside, they deliberately damaged the toilet plumbing, causing flooding in the ground-floor bathroom next to the point of entry. The offenders then conducted a  search of the lower floor, located the car keys, and stole the Audi RS 5.

๐Ÿ”’ Security Advice Considerations. ๐Ÿ”’

  • Upgrade your locks โ€“ Consider anti-snap locks for external doors to help prevent lock-snapping attacks.
  • Keep car keys out of sight โ€“ Avoid leaving them in obvious places like key hooks or kitchen counters.
  • Secure entry points โ€“ If possible, use additional deadbolts or sash jammers on rear doors.
  • Install motion-sensor lighting โ€“ This can help deter offenders from approaching your home at night.
  • Set up timed lights or smart security systems โ€“ These can create the appearance of someone being home, especially if you are away.
  • Consider installing CCTV โ€“ A visible camera system can deter criminals and provide evidence if needed. Even a dummy camera can act as a deterrent.
  • Fit a burglar alarm or a dummy alarm box โ€“ A working alarm system can be an effective deterrent, but even a fake alarm box can make a property look more secure.
  •
