Sussex Alerts - Wealden Police

21.02.2025

Arrests

Officers across Wealden made a total of 17 arrests last week.

3 drivers were arrested in Polegate and Hailsham - one for drug driving, and 2 for drink driving.

There were 2 arrests made in Uckfield for criminal damage.

We also arrested an individual for fraud in Polegate.

Other offences included assault, burglary and stalking.

Community Engagement

Monday 17th, PCSO Choppin attended the Rocks Park Scouts Hut to have a chat with the Resolute Martial Arts group at their half term club.

The group asked lots of questions, showing such a great interest in what we do.

To top off the visit, the children got the chance to sit in the vehicle , see the lights and hear the sirens - something that always puts a smile on everyone's face!

It was a great day enjoyed by all, including the PCSO!

Students at a primary school in Maynards Green, Horam, had been learning about the topic of transport, so it was only right to let them explore a police car!

PCSO Park and PCSO Tay dropped by to give them a first-hand experience riding in police vehicles. They all enjoyed exploring our patrol car and police carrier van, complete with blue lights of course.

Engagement is a huge part of our role as PCSOs - we love getting to know our communities no matter what age or background.

Patrols continue

We are aware of recent burglaries and thefts across Uckfield, Withyam and Hartfield and would like to reassure the public that additional patrols are still ongoing whilst we investigate all lines of enquiry.

We encourage and ask anyone with either information or if you too have been a victim of damage or theft to report to police online or by calling 101.

Seeking passionate Independent Advisors

Do you care about your community and how your police force helps to protect it?

Independent Advisors are members of diverse communities from across Sussex, who provide advice and make recommendations to the Police on how policy and practices affect different people.

In this role you will be providing guidance and feedback about the potential and very real impact of policing on different groups. You'll act as a ‘critical friend’, challenging conventional thinking and offering an independent perspective on issues.

999 wait times improved!

In an emergency, every second counts.

That's why we've made huge improvements to our call response times, with the average wait time when dialling 999 being just 5 seconds.

Help is just seconds away, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Report crime online, by dialling 101 or, in an emergency, always call 999.

For non-emergency incidents or crime prevention advice, click  www.sussex.police.uk,  (if you report a crime online, we will assess it in the same way as a 101 call).

Call 101 when you do not require an urgent response. In an emergency when life is threatened or there is immediate danger always call 999.

Speak to us face-to-face at a police station or contact the local policing team at www.sussex.police.uk/area/your-area.

If you are deaf, hard of hearing or speech impaired, you can contact us using TypeTalk on 18000 or by sending a text to 65999.
