Dear Resident. What has happened. Between 1.45 and 1.55am on the 20th of February 2025 unknown offenders wearing dark clothing were disturbed during an attempted burglary in Fowler Road. The offenders snapped the lock on a front porch, but were disturbed and made off before entry was gained. It is believed they may have wanted to steal the keys for ,and the Audi motor vehicle which was parked on the driveway.
What are we doing about this? At this time the matter is under investigation.
What can you do about this? Considering the methods used in this , and other cases checking to see if your locks are Anti Snap is important, information on these locks, and where they can be purchased, and if necessary fitted can be found by visiting www.locksmiths.co.uk It is important to ensure your property is secure, so check windows and doors are locked. If an alarm system is fitted, set it. If you do not have an alarm, various types are available from a number of suppliers. Also the check access points to the rear of your property are secure. Regarding vehicles , always check they are locked, remove valuables, set any alarms, consider the use of a good standard steering type lock. If your vehicle is a keyless type then use a Faraday pouch to place your keys in when the vehicle is not in use. These prevent thieves reading the key code with a device which then allows them to start and drive the vehicle.
Above is a typical Faraday pouch. More crime prevention advice is available at www.westmidlands.police.uk / crime prevention advice. | ||||
