MAN CHARGED FOLLOWING INCIDENT IN RUGELEY TOWN CENTRE

A man has been charged after two knives were found following a stop-and-search in Rugeley town centre.

Andrew McElroy, 51, from Rugeley, has been charged with possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place.

It comes after officers were called to Brook Square at around 1.20pm yesterday (Thursday 20 February) after a member of the public told a local PSCO that a man was in possession of a knife.

McElroy has been bailed to appear at Cannock Magistrates’ Court on Monday 3 March.
