We’re appealing for information following an attempted ATM theft which happened on Friday night (21 February 2025). At 10.43pm our control room received a call about four vehicles acting suspiciously in the Applegarth car park. The member of the public reported hearing smashing and a lot of noise along with a telehandler, a tree felling tipper Ford and two Volvo estates. Officers have immediately responded and the two Volvos, one in red and one in blue and black, have made off, but the telehandler and tipper style van were left running. The Volvos were later found abandoned at different locations nearby. Several items that would be associated with crime were found inside the telehandler and tipper truck. All vehicles have since being forensically recovered. A 34-year-old man was found hiding under a bush. He was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to burgle, going equipped and dangerous driving. He has since been released on bail as enquiries continue. We are also asking anyone with private CCTV or doorbell cameras to review their footage and get in touch if they have captured any suspicious people or the vehicles on camera. If you have any information or footage that could help our investigation, please call North Yorkshire Police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their website. Please quote reference 12250032464 when passing on information. | ||||
