Good Morning Resident,
On Wednesday, February 26, Neighbourhood Officers focused on the Peel and Barnfield areas, addressing concerns raised by residents. You may have noticed an increased police presence as we tackled key issues, including road safety around schools, dog fouling, drug activity, and shoplifting in local businesses. Officers carried out patrols during school hours at Peel Park Primary School, St Anne’s & St Joseph’s, and Benjamin Hargreaves. We also visited Accrington & Rossendale College, engaging with the Safeguarding Team to provide advice on drug-related concerns and proper disposal procedures. Working alongside Hyndburn Council’s two Dog Wardens, we conducted an environmental audit in response to resident complaints. We shared information and discussed enforcement strategies to tackle the issue effectively. With help from the community, we gathered intelligence on drug activity, focusing on key locations and vehicles. This led to targeted patrols, not only on the day but also as part of an ongoing effort to disrupt criminal activity. Local businesses received support, and officers patrolled Eastgate and Abbey Street throughout the day. We also met with residents at St Paul’s Church Hall to discuss their concerns and attended the Mum’s and Toddler Group, where we connected with organisers about future community support initiatives. Information about helpful local groups was shared with residents throughout the day. In the evening, we conducted foot patrols in known drug hotspots and around local shops and businesses. Several disruption visits were carried out, including a referral for support through the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub.
