Police are appealing for witnesses to assist enquiries following an attempted robbery in Torrington. Between 4pm and 4.15pm on Thursday 27 February the victim was walking on a path alongside the Torrington Methodist Church when three unknown suspects have approached him from behind, assaulted him and tried to steal his bag and phone. No items were stolen. The suspects may have spent a short time sat on a nearby bench together immediately after the incident. The available description currently is of three teenage males, in dark/black tops and trousers, possibly wearing tracksuits, and dark/black shoes. They were believed to have been on this pathway between 4pm and 4.15pm. Officers have been in the area to ask for witnesses and check local CCTV, however, are now appealing to the community for anybody who may have been in the area at that time and witnessed the suspects, or who may have any CCTV or dash-cam footage of the area, who have not yet spoken to officers, to come forward. Anybody with relevant information is asked to contact police on 101 or via our website quoting 50250050773. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling freephone 0800 555 111. | ||||
