Two Teenagers Arrested

Hello Resident

We wanted to let you know that two teenagers have been arrested over the serious assault of a teenager in Birmingham.

The 13-year-old was attacked on Cock Hill Lane yesterday by a group of other children at around 4pm

The youngster was taken to hospital but has since been released.

We are examining social media video footage showing the assault, and have arrested two boys aged 13 on suspicion of wounding with intent.

We are actively looking for other youths involved in the assault, and are liaising with local schools as the investigation continues.

Local officers are carrying out high-visibility patrols in the area to offer reassurance and speak to anyone with concerns.

Det Sgt Shereen Ballintine, from Birmingham CID, said: "This was an appalling attack on a young boy which has been recorded and shared on social media.

"We’d ask people to consider the impact that this has had on the family of the young boy and not to share the footage, as we work hard to identify and arrest all of those involved.

"We are also aware that some people have tried to find those involved themselves. This is not acceptable and anyone involved in threats or retaliation of any kind will also find themselves arrested."

We believe the incident may have been linked to an assault at Hollywood Bowl in Rubery on Sunday afternoon at around 4.30pm, which we are also investigating.

Anyone with information on either incident has been asked to get in touch via 101 or Live Chat, quote 20/163531/25.
