This morning (Wednesday 5 March) officers from the Bitterne North Neighbourhood Policing team, Neighbourhood Enforcement Team and the dog unit carried out a warrant at an address on Meggeson Avenue in connection with an ongoing investigation into drug supply in Southampton.
Suspected Class A and Class B drugs were found inside the property, as well as a zombie knife, which have all been seized.
We have arrested a 45-year-old man from Southampton on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, possession with intent to supply Class B drugs and possession of an offensive weapon. He remains in police custody at the current time while our enquiries continue.
Bitterne North Police Sergeant Yozanne Richards said: “Proactive warrants such as this one are just one of the tactics available to us in targeting and disrupting harmful drugs supply in our communities.
“Drug supply of any kind has a far-reaching impact on local people – it is often linked to the exploitation of children and vulnerable people and organised crime groups, as well as other criminality such as anti-social behaviour, theft and burglary. The impact of drug supply can - and has, on too many occasions - caused devastation to people’s lives, which is why we take it so seriously.
“We continue working alongside our local communities and our partnership agencies on long term, strong solutions to tackling drug-related crime. If you have any information about drug related crime or suspicious activity in your area, including any concerns for the wellbeing of a child or vulnerable adult, please contact police or Crimestoppers.”
