Crime Report Kirkby in Ashfield and the Rural Villages for the six days to midnight Tuesday 4 March 2025

Between sometime on Sunday 2 and 2.00pm on Tuesday 4 March in Annesley Cutting, Annesley, the Old Co-op building which had been boarded up following a fire at the weekend was broken into through a back window and the boarding kicked off the doors to exit the building. We do not know at this time if anything was stolen. 

Between 9.00am on Monday 24 and 12.15pm on Friday 28 February in Windsor Road, Selston, a detached garage was broken into and power tools, camping items and a pressure washer were stolen.

Between 4.30am and 10.00am on Monday 3 March in Rosewood Drive, Kirkby in Ashfield, a black refuse bin with a red top was stolen, most likely after they were emptied around 9.00am.

At 2.48pm on Sunday 2 March in Bunyan Green Road, Selston a report of two Asian males in a scrap van walking down property driveways looking for items to take. They had removed a freezer from the back of the callers property just before he found them in his back garden. 

Robbery

At 3.27pm on Tuesday 4 March in Chestnut Avenue, Kirkby in Ashfield, a man was cleaning home refuse bins in the road when he was spoken to by two males, late teens/early 20’s, wearing dark clothing. They jumped into his white Citroen Dispatch van and as he tried to stop them driving it off they ran over him causing injuries that needed hospital treatment. The van was later found abandoned but a wallet in the glove compartment had been stolen.

Criminal Damage

Reported at 9.18pm on Sunday 2 March in Warren Avenue, Annesley, that electric fencing to a horse paddock at the Warren House Livery Stables had been cut.

ASB

At 8.58pm on Monday 3 March in Station Street, Kirkby in Ashfield a young male was causing problems outside the Sunrise Store by kicking open the door, but no damage was done. He was chased by the shop owner. The police attended and took the male home to his parents. This was the latest incident of a long running issue with young people targeting the shop with anti-social behaviour.
