Online Abuse

Sometimes, relationships that begin romantically become controlling, with partners reading emails, checking texts and tracking locations.

Online abuse can happen over long periods, and can escalate over time. It can include behaviours such as monitoring of social media profiles or emails, sending abusive messages online or by text, or sharing intimate photos or videos without consent.

Social media should be safe for everyone to use, but perpetrators of domestic abuse often use online tools to target their victims.
