Good evening Resident,

Bolton Town Centre is visited by communities from all across Bolton, be it to work, shop, use the interchange or just to pass through. Following feedback from the local businesses and public, we have updated our priorities and I felt it pertinent to share with the yourselves as the communities of Bolton. 

My team is full of dedicated and experienced officers who share the same passion for problem solving as I do, and we are all keen to work with our local partners to improve the quality of life for our residents. I foster a proactive approach to policing within my team, identifying offenders early on and being robust in their management, ensuring we work collaboratively with our partners to achieve the best outcome for all.

Anti-Social Behaviour
We are robustly targeting reports of ASB across the town centre. There are dedicated officers for this during peak times on evenings and weekends. We will continue to remain visible in this area whilst working alongside our partners to ensure referrals and diversionary work is completed with these individuals at an early stage. In the past month, my team have made 25 ASB referrals for individuals engaging in unacceptable behaviour. 

Retail Crime

We are targeting shoplifting offences and other retail crime in the town centre through high visibility policing. We will prioritise offences against retail workers and take action against offenders. We will be working closely with the Central Bolton Partnership to provide crime prevention advice and obtain Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs) for prolific offenders - giving local retailers and police more robust powers to tackle shoplifting. In the past 12 months, my team have obtained 16 CBOs, excluding prolific offenders from all retail premises. 

Begging

We are working with our partners to prevent ongoing begging. My team will be looking to take positive action around anyone who is causing a nuisance or repeatedly offending in the area, and signposting to our partner agencies where relevant welfare needs require addressing.
