Here's a quick round up from me and the rest of the Wolverhampton City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team.
Whats Been Happening.
Crime Prevention - This week our Police Community Support Officers James and Sam held a community surgery within the Central Library, It was lovely seeing new faces from the wider area. They engaged with several people who voiced their concerns for not only the city centre but the wider area, we even gave a member of the public some advice on moving into a career with West Midlands Police. These issues will be passed on to the relevant neighbourhood teams. Going forward we are going to be holding ‘Cuppa with a Coppa’ at the Library.
Arrests - Several arrests has been made in connection with the Shooting in Eastfields last week, and our officers have stepped up patrols to provide a highly visible presence within the community.
Guardian Patrols - As always we are continuing our patrols targeting Anti-Social Behaviour and Violent Crime. These are patrols we carry out multiple times a week, with a positive result on the community. We are seeing a decrease in ASB related incidents at Wolverhampton Bus Station due to our continued high visibility patrols.
Night-Time Economy - Our officers had the difficult task this week of starting our night time patrols during the Wolves vs Everton match. This always proves to be quite a stressful time for not only them but the public who are just trying to enjoy an evening out. Their night started early with an arrest for drunk and disorderly at a bar in the city, throughout the night the city centre clubs were quieter than usual.
Purse Dippers - This week we patrolled around the Market on Dudley street and the Pokemon Event in the Mander Centre on the look out for purse dippers. Please whilst your out in the city centre can you make sure your bags and purses are sealed and secured, and do not leave Mobile Phones in view.
Events - No upcoming events.
We have taken on board feedback from some of the WMNow members and we are looking in to providing some more surgeries at weekends so they are more accessible to people that work during the week.
Hope you have a lovely week, Stay Safe and have fun.
