Dear Resident
A man has been charged in connection with a burglary in #HemelHempstead. Police were called shortly before 7.40pm on Wednesday (5 March) to report suspicious activity at an address in Great Road. Officers attended and carried out a search of the area, detaining a man a short time later. Jewellery items, confirmed as missing from the address, were recovered. Skip Grant, aged 45, of Hobletts Road, #HemelHempstead, has been charged with burglary and appeared before Hatfield Remand Court today (Friday 7 March). He was remanded into custody ahead of his next court hearing on Tuesday 8 April. Further enquiries are being carried out by detectives from the Dacorum Local Crime Unit.
Tips to prevent burglary: Check downstairs windows and doors are securely locked before you leave or go to bed. Use a “Fake TV” or timer switches on lamps to give the impression someone is at home. Don’t leave keys, phones or other valuables on windowsills or in any other visible place. Secure UPVC doors by lifting the handle and locking it to engage the security features. Consider using a doorbell camera, interior camera or a monitored burglar alarm. Securely lock rear gates, sheds and garages. Keep tools and ladders locked away, as they could be used to break into your home.
