Crime Alert - Criminal Damage (Tiktok Trend)


Dear South Ward Resident,

 

Humberside Police are investigating a report of a Criminal Damage on Sutcliffe Avenue near to the shops.

The incident occurred around 00:35 this morning the 10 March.  The offender(s) - who a witness described as approximately 14 years old where dressed all in black and riding cycles.  They approached the targeted property and launched several large rocks through the front bay windows - upstairs and down - causing them to smash.  Luckily no one was injured at the time.

 

If you have been a victim of this type of crime recently please get in touch via the 101 non-emergency number to report it.  There may be a Tiktok trend starting where these types of crimes are being filmed and posted online for 'likes'.

 

Also, if you have any CCTV footage (including video doorbell), saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area around this time or have any information about these offences, again, please contact the police quoting occurrence ref: 25*32334

If you have been a victim of criminal damage, please follow the below prevention advice -

  • Contact the Police as soon as possible on 101, or on 999 if the incident is on-going.
  • Consider reviewing the general security of your property, including CCTV and lighting.
  • Increase the surveillance around the front of your property by restricting any boundary wall/fence to a maximum of 1m in height.
  • Consider defensive planting by planting spikey plants or bushes.
  • Keep the area around your property free from rubbish and debris as best you can.
  • Secure any items on your property such as wheelie bins, that could be used to cause damage.
