Engagement with young people in our area

Good afternoon Resident

I have had a busy few days engaging with the local children of our area!

Yesterday evening I attended an youth course ran by “family hub” that's located on the Holmesdale school site. It was so lovely to engage with children of all ages and have a chance to chat freely. The group started by discussing our emotions but finished by cooking bread and playing games! This kind of positive interaction with police is exactly what my job role is about!

Today I attended Brookfield junior School in Larkfield and spoke with the 2 year 6 classes about knife crime and the age of criminal responsibility. We discussed various offences such as assaults, criminal damage and carrying weapons and knives. We talked about child exploitation and what that may look like if they or a friend were the target of grooming. The children all engaged and it was lovely to meet them all.  I will continue to offer similar talks to all the local primary and secondary schools and have some booked in for as soon as next week!

Positive engagement now with children will hopefully mean less offending in the future.

Kind regards

Olivia
