Bogus Bank phone calls

This is a message from Wycombe District Neighbourhood Watch Association.

A number of cases have been reported to us of recorded phone messages being received that purport to be from banks,  One such call came from Ireland and another one was from India!

They refer to sizeable suspicious transactions that are to be debited to your account that same day.  The messages invite you to press ‘1’ if you approve of these transactions, or to press ‘2’ if you don’t approve them.  It goes on to say that someone will speak to you if you press ‘2’.

These messages are very similar to genuine messages from banks.
So, do take care if you encounter them and do feel free to phone your bank to ensure that you are dealing with genuine messages.

Take care!
