MAN CHARGED WITH DRUGS & OTHER OFFENCES


A man has been charged and two other people arrested after officers from our major and organised crime proactive teams found a knife, drugs, cash and a mobile phone in Tamworth.

Yaseer Hussain, 24, of no fixed address, has been charged with possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place, possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A (crack cocaine), possession of a controlled drug of Class B (cannabis), being concerned in the supply of heroin, intentional strangulation, engaging in controlling/coercive behaviour and assaulting a person causing them actual bodily harm.

It comes after officers stopped and searched a man on New Street, Glascote, at 4.15pm on Tuesday (11 March).

A knife, heroin, crack cocaine, cash and a mobile phone were found.

Officers later found scales, suspected heroin, crack, cannabis, a knuckle duster and mobile phones when they searched a property in the town.

A 41-year-old woman, from the Tamworth area, has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A (cocaine), possession of an offensive weapon in a private place and possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A (heroin).

She has been released under investigation.

A 21-year-old woman, from the Coventry area, who was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A, has been released with no further action.

Hussain remains in custody and was due to appear at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre today (Thursday 13 March).
