Sommerfeld Road speed concerns addressed

Residents Urge Caution as Speeding Persists on Sommerfeld Road

Concerns continue to mount among Hadley residents over persistent speeding on Sommerfeld Road, despite its long-established 30mph limit.

Local residents describe the thoroughfare as "like a racetrack" with vehicles regularly exceeding the posted speed.

In a recent speed enforcement operation on Friday, March 21st, PC Hughes documented 25 vehicles traveling above the legal limit, highlighting the ongoing nature of the problem despite clearly posted signage and the presence of a Speed Indication Device.

When questioned, some offending drivers claimed ignorance of the actual limit, with statements like "I thought it was a 40." This underscores the critical need for motorists to remain vigilant and observant of road signage in residential areas.

"We are here to address community concerns and ask people to focus," noted a local officers from Hadley and Leegomery Safer Neighbourhood Team. "It is important for drivers to be observant."

Police acknowledge that many motorists do comply with the restrictions, as evidenced during the monitoring operation. However, they emphasize that consistent adherence to speed limits remains essential for the safety of the Hadley community.

S.N.T would like to remind anyone using this road to be mindful
