Weekly update - Longford

Dear Residents and Local Businesses,

Here is your weekly update from your local neighbourhood Policing Team, to let you know some of what we've been busy dealing with:

PATROLS

Officers have been carrying out patrols of the Longford areas on foot and in vehicles. We have been paying particular attention to locations that have recently experienced an increase in crime.

ARRESTS

Three people have been arrested by officers on the team for shoplifting offences from Next at Arena Retail Park and at Farmfoods in Riley Square.

ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR

We are receiving several reports of anti-social behaviour in and around Arena Retail Park and CBS Arena. We have identified some of the people involved and are taking action against them in partnership with local housing providers. We are distributing banning notices to all of those involved.

COMMUNITY EVENTS

Our PCSO's have attended Grangehurst Primary School this week to have a visit to the Reception classes. They got to try on some of our kit and sit in our vehicles and ask lots of questions about the Police.

We also have the following dates for community events:

31st March 2025 - Cuppa with a Copper - Bell Green Library, Riley Square between 5 and 6pm.

5th April 2025 - Crime Prevention pop up - Riley Square - 10:30am-12pm.

8th April 2025 - PACT Meeting - St Thomas's Church, Longford Road - 6:30-7:30pm. This is our new date, and has been rearranged from 31st March.

STREETWATCH

We are looking for volunteers to get involved in a local Streetwatch group within the Longford and Bell Green areas - if you would like more information or be interested in joining, please contact Streetwatch@westmidlands.police.uk with your name, telephone number and postcode.

OTHER INFORMATION

if you have information about people committing crime that you want to tell us about, you can contact us on the non-emergency telephone number 101 or by visiting us online at Home | West Midlands Police (west-midlands.police.uk) where you will find access to the LIVE CHAT facility. Alternatively you can contact the CRIMESTOPPERS charity anonymously by calling 0800 555 111. This is a free phone number. CRIMESTOPPERS can also be contacted online here: Independent UK charity taking crime information anonymously | Crimestoppers (crimestoppers-uk.org)

Please do not report crime via WMnow because it is not always monitored.

Kind Regards,

The Henley & Longford Neighbourhood Policing Team
