Northallerton: “Courageous” non-recent rape victim praised by detective as attacker is jailed for eight yearsA Northallerton man has been jailed for eight years for raping a teenage girl more than a decade ago. Luke Jack Ridley (pictured), 29, residing at HMP Holme House, Stockton-on-Tees, pleaded guilty to two counts of rape at Teesside Crown Court on 4 February 2025.
The incidents happened when he was a teenager and forced himself on the girl, who was several years younger than him. It was in September 2022 when the victim reported the incidents to North Yorkshire Police. The investigation has been led by Detective Constable Quita Readman from Hambleton and Richmondshire CID. She was able to support the victim throughout the inquiry and ensure she received professional care and support, including from IDAS. Following today’s (Friday 21 March 2025) sentencing at Teesside Crown Court, DC Readman said: “The victim has been courageous throughout this ordeal. I hope the outcome at court gives her strength as she begins to rebuild her life knowing justice has been served. “It also proved once again that it is never too late to make a report and seek professional help. We are here for you.” DC Readman added: “As for Ridley, he now has a considerable period of time in prison to reflect on the misery and trauma he has caused for more than a decade.” Ridley will remain on the Register of Sex Offenders indefinitely.
