Road crime team officers stop 185 vehicles and make three arrests in dangerous driving operation

Our Road Crime Team (RCT) stopped 185 vehicles, arrested three drivers and dealt with motorists for dangerous driving habits in a week-long operation on Staffordshire’s roads last month.

We worked proactively to target those committing offences on the M6 motorway and on the A500.

The RCT stopped 185 vehicles overall and arrested three drivers on suspicion of drink/drunk driving.

Drivers were reported for various offences such as excess speed, aggressive driving, poor lane discipline and tailgating. This could lead to a fine, a court appearance or a driver awareness course. Some drivers were offered words of advice.

Sergeant Rob Powell, of our RCT, said: “This is just one of the ways we are keeping your roads safe. We take road safety seriously and this operation is dedicated to tackling excess speed, tailgating and poor lane discipline.

“Our team tackles a wide range of issues including education and enforcement around various dangerous driving habits and criminality on our roads.”
