Crime Alert - Arson / Criminal Damage / Anti Social Behaviour

Dear South Ward Resident,

Humberside Police have been dealing with a number of arson incidents in the area recently, whereby youths have been reported to take full wheelie bins from nearby residents home close to Sutcliffe Park.  They are then setting them alight which causes a considerable mess, it takes up the Fire Services valuable time and potentially could be a danger those involved - especially if there are items such as aerosols contained within.  This has occurred on three consecutive evenings this past week.  Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday.

There have also been similar incidents occur in parks in other parts of Grimsby and Cleethorpes.

If you have any knowledge of these incidents or you have children that may know something.  Have CCTV footage (including video doorbell), saw any youths moving wheelie bins in your area or have any other information about these types of crimes please contact the police on the non-emergency number 101 or if an incident is in progress, please dial 999.  We can't always attend immediately as all logs are graded accordingly.  But if resources are available we will aim to attend as soon as possible.

Alternatively you could call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. You don’t have to leave your name and you may even receive a reward.

Please also find attached the Police Crime Prevention Handbook which covers a broad range of crime prevention advice.

Thank you
