#YouSaid - What matters to you

Your priorities are chosen quarterly and are based upon information gathered through NHL (Neighbourhood Link), social media, local engagement, and emerging crime trends. You have stated that the following key themes are important to you.

 #YouSaidWeDid

Priority 1: Issues associated with the Night Time Economy

A number of issues have been raised around the Night Time Economy in Hinckley Town Centre.

Priority 2: Shop Theft and theft from person offences in Hinckley Town Centre

The Hinckley Town Centre Beat Team work closely with local partners and businesses to deter and detect theft across the town.

Shop Theft is a concern to local and national retailers.

Theft from person (pickpocket) offences have also been identified as organised groups try to commit theft offences in busy town centres. Sales of counterfeit goods has also been raised by local retailers.

Priority 3: Anti-Social Behaviour across Hinckley Town Centre.

There has been a pattern of anti-social behaviour which has been identified as a current community issue occurring in the location of Hinckley Town Centre.

#WeDid - What we are doing

On the 12th March 2025 we attended a joint agency visit to provide personal safety advice to local residents. We attended Royal court, Hinckley to present scam awareness guidance, supplying several items to safeguard them both at home and away. Thank you to Angela, Community Safety Officer and PC 291 Symonds, PC 1420 Smeaton.

We’re pleased to report that a 16-year-old boy has been given a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) thanks to the effort of officers from the Hinckley and Blaby Neighbourhood Policing Area (NPA). The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was issued with the order at Leicester Youth Court on Monday 3 March after pleading guilty to one count of theft of a motor vehicle, one count of handling stolen goods, one count of harassment and driving without a licence or insurance. The order was granted on conviction after officers were able to prove he was linked to numerous reports of antisocial behaviour in Hinckley and Burbage.

The order, which is in place for 12 months, includes a number of conditions including being prohibited from entering Hinckley town centre unless in the company of a family member over 20 years of age, wearing any item that covers the nose or eyes in a public place, behaving or associating with anyone in a manner that may cause harassment, alarm or distress. Breaching the order could lead to him being arrested. In addition to the CBO, he also received a youth rehabilitation order and was ordered to complete 40 hours of unpaid work and fined £100. His driving licence was also endorsed with eight points. Sergeant James Cross, from the Hinckley and Blaby NPA said: “The boy concerned was causing significant harm to our communities by engaging in antisocial behaviour and other offences. Our primary focus is protecting our communities and I’m pleased to inform you that the CBO will assist in keeping you safe. We would encourage you to continue reporting incidents of antisocial behaviour to us. This can be done online by visiting http://leicspolice.link/bUFHV or calling 101.

It has been reported that there have been youths going into an abandoned factory, throwing items and smashing the windows. There have been different groups going around every day doing this for the last week according to the reporting witness. We have attended the location to put police tape around the entrances which are being used. Upon arrival, there was already a group of youths inside. There was also a female inside the factory using spray paint. This female was given a Community Resolution with conditions not to come back into Hinckley town centre for 5 weeks. There were also 3 youths inside the building. As it could not be proved if they have caused damage inside the building, they were told that they would be given ASB advice letters for trespassing and given advice that if they know people that are also going into the building then they should stop as the police and council are aware. The advice letter has been given and there have been no other reported incidents since. We have tried to contact the owner to make the building safe. There has been planning submitted for the building to be demolished but unfortunately we are unable to find a confirmed date of when this is happening.

Parents/carers if you have children around the ages of 12-17 please can you speak to them about the dangers of attending such areas and we thank you for you cooperation.

Sainsburys are having ongoing issues with teenage girls causing issues in the store, being abusive and swearing at security and staff and running around the store. CCTV over a number of weeks has been obtained and an ASB Sentinel report has been created. Our investigation continues.
