Glossop SNT - School/Community Engagement
On Friday 28th March Mr Jon Pearce MP for High Peak attended Hadfield Infant School to talk to the children about their safety campaign at Hadfield infants. He chose the 4 winning posters (which wasn't easy) which will be used throughout the days of action. The whole school took part in a competition to create posters to encourage better road safety in our community. Four children were selected and their winning posters will be used . The school are so proud of each and every one of their children, for being proactive about parking, our local environment and their planet. The school council were thrilled to be able to tell Jon about the difficulties they face, including engine idling causing fumes along with pavement parking and parking on the zig zag lines outside the school entrance. We are all looking forward to seeing some positive outcomes from the actions of the children.
PCSO Buller from Glossop YET (Youth Engagement Team) alongside Anne from GAST (Glossopdale Action for Sustainable Travel) and Helen Thornhill from ‘Move More Glossop’ including the School Council, Mrs Kidd and, some parents took part in the1st day of a ‘parking action day’ held outside Hadfield Infant School, at the Merseybank Rd, Entrance, today Monday 31st March.
The school council were displaying the winning posters - all laminiated and enlarged for impact - to be used during the campaign. The group were quite vocal with the messages of ‘Keep Children Safe’ - ‘Dont park on the Zig-Zag lines’- ‘Keep our School Safe’
All those involved in these events are looking forward to seeing some positive outcomes from the actions of the children during the upcoming action days.
‘Well done all today’
