As your local Rural’s team head into rest days its been a very busy shift for us but I want to start off with something positive, We were alerted to a repeat offender who had been stealing fuel from petrol stations in and around the Balsall common area, officers worked tirelessly to track this individuals’ movements and despite his best efforts to evade us with DLVA shenanigans and switching vehicles; We caught up with him last week where he was promptly arrested, charged and is due to be sentenced in the immediate future. We’ve also had a rise in fly tipping reports as well and nothing grinds our gears more than the remains of someone’s old bathroom renovation spoiling the countryside in which we Police, we suspect it may be the same individuals as the same spots keep getting used but if you see anyone fly tipping then please do help us with our investigation by calling us on 101 with as much detail on the offenders as possible, if you do come across debris that’s been discarded at the road side then please do let the council know so that they can arrange for it be cleaned up. We’ve had a busy weekend at the NEC this weekend with both MEGACON and the ROCKET LEAGUE championship taking place side by side generating a lot of foot fall and lots of people walking around in various costumes, Rurals officers have been out and about patrolling the area and the surrounding car parks and whilst busy; we’re happy to report that there were no major incidents even if we did lose count of how many people we saw dressed as Spiderman. And finally, Last year in August; Balsall Common bore witness to a horrific car jacking in which a woman was dragged along the road and her dogs thrown from the car (the dogs safely recovered shortly after), we’re happy to report that the suspect was identified by Rurals officers and after escaping and going into hiding; was arrested by Coventry officers a short while after. On Wednesday (26th March) at Coventry Crown Court, he was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison and banned from driving for three years which will not start until after he has served his sentence. | ||||
