Weekly Update

Dear Neighbourhood Link Member,

Good Afternoon, and I hope you are well!

Here is an update on neighbourhood policing in Syston, Thurmaston and surrounding villages.

What have the neighbourhood team been doing?

  • High Visibility/Reassurance Patrols – in our ‘hot spot’ areas
  • On 24/03/25, PCSO 6024 and 6098 were please to be invited once again to Broomfield School in East Goscote, where they gave a whole school assembly. They discussed their roles and how we help keep people safe. They also visited some of the younger students at the Bizzy bees preschool where they were able to look at the police car and engage with us.
  • The beat team have gave advisory signs in relation to parking on Zig zags to Thrussington Primary School in Thrussington and The Pochin School in Barkby. We will continue to work with the schools regarding issues and education to the children.
  • [i]As the weather gets warmer, we see an increase in ASB especially involving motorbikes, the beat team are aware of these issues and there is CCTV inquiries and patrols taking place to identity suspects so they can be dealt with.
  • The beat team have been conducting burglary patrols around the NL61 beat, which consists of evening foot and marked car patrols throughout the villages in the residential areas. This is due to an overall increase in burglaries during the winter period. For crime prevention advice please visit the Leicestershire police website!
  • This is just a selection of what the neighbourhood team have been doing, we have also been completing crime investigations, partnership working with other agencies and engaging with residents and businesses in the area.
