Hello Resident
Tonight we had members of the community come to our Police Station to receive training to start up a Community Speed Watch in Erdington. Community Speedwatch is a community driven road safety initiative which empowers community volunteers to address their concerns around inappropriate traffic speed around their residence/place of work with the support of us.
Community Speedwatch will involve trained volunteers using approved speed detection devices resulting in one of two outcomes: •1 – The vehicle will be stopped by a police officer and a roadside intervention will be delivered by attending partners. •2 – A notice will be sent to the driver/registered keeper encouraging them to reduce their speed in future.
Our first Community Speed watch will take place in due course…. We have also got our Erdington High Streetwatch, and Sycamore Street Watch. StreetWatch groups is a community-led initiative where volunteers patrol their local areas, promoting safety and good citizenship by wearing high-visibility jackets, engaging with residents, and reporting suspicious activity to the police.
It is great that local residents from Erdington and other areas who have links to Erdington want to make a difference to make the area safer for everyone and bring the community together.
If your interested in either Community Speed Watch or Street Watch please email us on erdington@westmidlands.police.uk
