Dementia- At risk of going missing

Good afternoon,

I am often approached by family members and carers regarding persons who are at risk of going missing owing to dementia. They are rightly concerned about the persons vulnerabilities and the risk that would be presented to them during a missing episode. I am very pleased to now be able to refer people to ‘The Herbert Protocol’- Herbert Protocol – Safe and Found Online (click the link and it should reveal the website URL).

Family members and carers can complete an online form with all of the personal details of the person with dementia. In the event of a missing episode, Kent Police can then access the information provided and it should assist us in tailoring our search and response. This is an excellent tool, and I would encourage our communities to use the platform where suitable.

With kindest regards

PC Steven England
